You made what?

I have been thinking about making a soap for Baby Ben using fresh breastmilk. I know what you are thinking, eeww! But why not? I used honey, breastmilk, and milk thistle scent added to a white cold process to make Ben's soap. Honey and breastmilk are both inhibitors to bacterial growth so they make an ideal baby soap. I rolled the soap into small balls that should work well for single use for bathtime. They need to cure for a while. I'll keep you updated on how well they work.

Lyn's first soap

Lyn made a glycerin soap today to celebrate the
summer solstice tomorrow. She used honey and a forest fern scent to liven it up. She also picked a flower from the wildflower patch we planted on Earth Day to decorate her soap. Of course she had her helpers along the way to lend a hand.

Celebrating the mistakes...

OK, I am just getting started. I liked the idea of making some melt and pour glycerin soaps with black eyed Susan's in the middle. The flowers are in bloom all over the place. I was having fun making these soaps. I did not realize I had put the flowers in upside down until I was ready to take them out of the mold. Oh well, the kids like them.

My first soap!!

I did it! I made my first soap today. It's a goat milk, honey, and chamomile blend. It's not very pretty and it will probably fall apart but I enjoyed making it.

Black Eyed Susan's

We picked some Black Eyed Susan's on the side of the road yesterday. I like the way they look and of course I am partial to their name. I think we will try a flower pressed soap with them. We snipped the flowers and put them in water. Since I accidentally pulled a plant up by its roots we replanted it back in our wildflower area at home.

Supplies are here!

My soap supplies arrived yesterday. I have some goat's milk soap in the mold as you read this. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Soap mold find

As I was looking in the dollar store for some items to use in my soap experiments I came across this. It is actually a piece of trash. I believe some of the glasses for sale came in this tray. It looks like it will make a good soap mold. I'm going to try it at least.
